Hardware Sales & Support
Alpha Microsystems Hardware Sales

Alpha Microsystems was founded in 1977 and was the originator of the multi-user Micro
Computer. Using the Western Digital WD16 chip set, a 16 bit S-100 bus and a new time
sharing multi-user operating system called AMOS (Alpha Microsystems Operating System)
Alpha Microsystems had multi-user applications running in thousands of businesses before
Apples started falling from the tree, or should I say garage. This was also well before
the introduction of the PC.
Busy small offices such as Medical, Dental, Legal and Accounting firms saw the benefit
of this multi-user system from the early days and quickly adopted it. Small business could
now afford to automate their operations using a multi-user micro computer rather than
spending more than their companies net worth on a mainframe or other high priced mini
computer.
Alpha Microsystems computers have been used in applications ranging from process
control and calibration to very large insurance data bases. Alpha Microsystems computers
can be found in most industries including Government, Emergency 911 systems, Medical and
Dental Offices and Hospitals, Large Legal Offices, Insurance, Wholesale Distribution,
Point of Sale and Military. With the addition of the TCP/IP suite of communication
protocols, over the last few years, Alpha Microsystems are finding their way onto many
large W.A.N's and into many Open System environments. The TCP/IP product also includes an
HTTPD server that can be used for internal company document distribution or as a server on
the World Wide Web. To use an Alpha Microsystems computer on the Web, follow the Alpha
Microsystems link below.
Authorized Value Added Reseller
The Val-Mac Group started selling Alpha Microsystems hardware in 1981 as part of a turn
key Point of Sale System. In 1986 we became a full distributor of Alpha Microsystems
products. Using our many years of experience with Alpha Microsystems we can provide all
the expertise you need to automate your business. If you already own Alpha Microsystems
equipment we can help you update you current hardware. A partial list, and brief
description of some of Alpha Microsystems products appears below. Please use the E-Mail
Information Request or the RFQ form at the end of this section to request any information
you might require. A partial list, and brief description of some of Alpha Microsystems
products appears below:

- AM-8000
The fastest Alpha Microsystems computer ever built.
A unique system combining an embedded version of Microsoft Windows XP®
running with a new version of AMOS 8.0. This new AMOS has all of the
backwards compatibility of the AMOS you are familiar with and has ported
some of the disk and scheduling code to the Intel platform. this allows much
of the code to run native on a dual AMD Athlon®
MP server with dual SCSI Ultra320 ports and Gigabit Ethernet. Please visit
http://amos-online.com for more
information.
- AM-7000
These systems have been the main stay of the Alpha Microsystems computer line for many
years. They can be configured to support from 1 to several hundred users. They come in a
variety of cabinets ranging from small desk top units to large floor standing systems. We
can provide upgrades, I/O and RAM expansion, disk drives, sub-systems and many peripherals
to enhance, enlarge and maintain these systems. We also from, time to time, have excellent
deals on used systems that have been well maintained on service contracts and have been
traded in on system upgrades.
- AM-800
The AM-8000 breaks new ground in AMOS system performance. The same
technology that makes the AM-8000 so breathtaking has been ported downwards
to a midrange system configuration, resulting in the Eagle 800. The 800 runs the
same AMOS 8.x operating system as the AM-8000.
- Super Falcon
The Falcon is a complete Alpha Microsystems computer system on an ISA bus compatible card.
The Falcon can be installed in an ISA based PC and will allow you to run true multi-user
applications on your PC. You can use the console and you can connect two other devices to
the on-board Falcon serial ports which can be PC's, dumb terminals or any serial device.
You can also use your PC COM ports and parallel ports to connect other devices such as
PC's, Modems and Printers, depending on your application requirements. This can be done
without adding any additional hardware or Network software. If you already have an
Ethernet network and want to provide a multi-user operating system and applications to
several PC users then the Falcon can be used via a PC network card on the network. This is
perfect for running a small office using any of the many accounting packages offered for
the Alpha Microsystems line of computers. One of the very best multi-user accounting
packages that can run on the Falcon, and any other Alpha Microsystems computer, is
Starr Accounting please see our software section for
more information on this accounting system.
- Eagle 100 - 500
& Super Eagle
The Eagle line is the newest line of computers at Alpha Microsystems. These systems are
designed using modular techniques that allow easy upgrade and expansion. These systems
utilize the latest technology and combine many different processors each dedicated to a
different process, such as a high speed RISC processor for handling SCSI I/O, a high speed
Ethernet processor for handling Ethernet traffic and buffered intelligent terminal I/O
that reduces the number of interrupts that the main processor has to handle. This approach
lets the main CPU process more instructions with fewer interruptions. The main system
components are tightly coupled to the CPU providing maximum throughput and the highest
possible bus speeds. Close adherence to industry standards and support for the TCP/IP
protocol suite means you can communicate with and connect to an extremely wide range of
third party equipment and peripherals.
- Peripherals
- RAID Level I-V Disk Subsystems
- I/O Subsystems
- SCSI II Disk Drives
- CD-ROM Drives
- DAT and Streamer Tape Drives
- Network and Printer Cards
- Terminals

Build to Suit Systems
We custom build, integrate and configure PC system to your exact specification. We can
supply a consistent quality system designed for your work environment. This configuration
can include a standard software package and a standard network configuration. This will
allow you to order using a standard part number and receive a ready to run system that can
be plugged directly into your network and used right out of the box. Please use the RFQ
form at the end of this section to request our configuration work sheets.
Ready to Go Systems
We also offer several "Ready to Go" systems. We continually review the very
latest products available and combine the best of these products into several standard
configurations.
- VMPD28800 This is an Intel Pentium D 2.8 GHz PCIe workhorse based on
the Intel
D955XBK motherboard, using the 955 chipset, SATA 3.0, Ultra ATA
133
IDE hard disk support, eight USB 2 ports, IEEE 1394 A & B ports. and has
everything you need for a great desktop system. This also comes in a 3.2 GHz (VMPD32800) version. All of our systems use
DDR
or DDR2 PC Serial Presence Detect
SRAM memory and the800 MHz or 1024 MHz front side bus.
- VMGP6750/100X2 Our entry level symmetrical multi processor system uses the
Intel L440GX+ chipset and 2 Intel Pentium III 750 MHz CPU's. This board takes full advantage
of the SMP operating system offerings from Microsoft, Novell and SCO. This is a very
stable rock solid server platform.
